As a key component for detachable pipe connections, the sealing performance of flanges has always been a focus of industry attention.
As a critical component for detachable pipe connections, the sealing performance of flanges has long been a focal point of industry attention. Recent studies have shown that the sealing effectiveness of flanged joints is influenced by multiple factors, including the flange face geometry, gasket material, and bolt pretension force. In terms of flange face geometry, different types—such as raised-face (RF) and male-and-female (MFM)—each have their own specific application scenarios. Technological advancements in the industry indicate that flange connection system simulation techniques based on finite element analysis are increasingly being adopted, which can help predict sealing performance under various operating conditions. Meanwhile, the concept of smart flanges equipped with embedded sensors has begun to be piloted in certain projects, aiming to achieve real-time monitoring of connection status.
