Recently, several new trends have emerged in the field of pipe fitting materials. In addition to conventional 304 and 316 stainless steels, there has been an increase in application cases for duplex stainless steels such as 2205 and 2507, particularly in environments characterized by high corrosion levels. Studies have shown that by adjusting the chemical composition of these materials and optimizing heat treatment processes, it is possible to enhance the resistance of pipe fittings to pitting corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Furthermore, in terms of surface treatment technologies, novel protective solutions—such as superhydrophobic coatings and ceramic composite coatings—are making progress at the laboratory stage. These technologies hold promise for extending the service life of pipe fittings in the future.
